Forged stainless clad SG2 powder metal with kurouchi finished hammer marked tsuchime cladding and western style stabilized maple burl wood handle. SG2 takes a very fine edge easily for a stainless steel of its hardness (63/64) and holds it nicely.
These have a very distinctive octagonal shaped hammer head Nigara has made for the tsuchime hammer mark on this series, the quality for the grinds and finish is also excellent.
Nigara Hamono in Hirosaki City in Aomori Prefecture is a 350 year old metalworking company with sword making roots, blacksmith Go Yoshizawa has expanded Nigara’s range to include kitchen knives.
